Sunny Bay of Plenty Winter Wedding
On a gorgeous sunny winters day, Ray and Nicola celebrated their marriage at Rangitaiki River Lodge in Murupara, Bay of Plenty. Winter weddings are my favourite, especially when it’s sunny, as the light is beautiful. After a little hiccup before the ceremony, everything went off without a hitch. We even had the perfect golden light for their photos.
Ray and Nicola really wanted their photos to be around different parts of Murupara that were relevant to them. We headed first to Murupara Area School as they had just opened their new Wharenui and Nic is a teacher there. It’s probably the littlest meeting house I’ve ever seen.
To get to their home you need to go over the river, so we pulled over and took some photos there as well. This was when the light was warm and golden. At their home they have a gorgeous driveway surrounded by beautiful camelia’s so we made use of those.
As Ray couldn’t see Nicola’s dress until the day, he was super secretive about his suit. Nicola had no idea on colour, fit, anything until she saw him at the top of the isle. It was super cute. Students from Nicola’s school made the food, which smelt delicious. Everyone pitched in with the decorations. One of Nicola’s friends even made her gorgeous flax bouquet and buttonholes. Thank you both for having us along. It was an absolute priviledge to capture your day, the moments of laughter and the love between you both.
